The short answer from us
My Horse Farm runs one size: a 40-yard dump trailer. Our crew loads it and hauls it away in the same visit. We don’t own roll-off dumpsters, so there is no container left on your driveway for a week. The other sizes below are general information to help you compare.
Dumpster sizes compared
Sizes are in cubic yards of volume. Truck-load counts are rough, for a sense of scale.
| Size | Roughly | Typical jobs |
|---|---|---|
| 10 yards | about 3 pickup-truck loads | A small bathroom remodel, a garage or shed cleanout, a small deck. |
| 20 yards | about 6 pickup-truck loads | A kitchen remodel, flooring for a few rooms, a mid-size house or attic cleanout. |
| 30 yards | about 9 pickup-truck loads | A whole-house cleanout, a major remodel, new construction debris. |
| 40 yards What we run | about 12 pickup-truck loads | Large cleanouts, estate and property cleanups, construction jobs, barn cleanouts, big green-waste jobs. |
10, 20 and 30-yard rows are general comparison only. We don’t rent those sizes.
What fits, by job
- Cleanouts. A garage or a couple of rooms is often 10 to 20 yards. A whole house, an estate or a property with outbuildings is usually 30 yards or more.
- Remodels. One bathroom is small. A kitchen, flooring through the house or a gut-renovation adds up fast, especially with cabinets and drywall.
- Roofs. Roofing is heavy and is usually limited by weight, not space. Count your squares (100 sq ft each) and layers and ask us how many loads it takes.
- Barns and farms. Old bedding, manure, broken fencing, stall mats and hay waste are bulky. A barn cleanout is a common 40-yard job. For ongoing manure, see manure removal.
- Yard and green waste. Branches and brush take a lot of room for their weight, so volume matters most here.
Why a dump trailer instead of a roll-off
- We load it. Our crew does the loading, so you don’t have to.
- One visit. Loaded and hauled away in the same visit, with nothing left behind on your property.
- Full 40 yards of room for big jobs.
- Licensed & insured since 2021.
Common questions
What size dumpster does My Horse Farm have?
One size: a 40-yard dump trailer. Our crew loads it and hauls it away in the same visit. We don't rent roll-off dumpsters, so nothing is left sitting on your property.
How much is a cubic yard?
A cubic yard is a cube 3 feet on each side. A standard pickup bed holds roughly 2 to 3 cubic yards when loaded level, so a 40-yard load is on the order of a dozen pickup loads.
How big a dumpster do I need for a roof?
Roofing is heavy, so a tear-off usually reaches the weight a container can carry before it looks full. Tell us the number of squares, how many layers, and the material (shingle, tile or metal), and we'll tell you how many loads it takes.
What if my job is smaller than 40 yards?
You can still use us. We load what you have and haul it away; you don't have to fill the trailer. If your job is small enough for a pickup, we'll say so.
What can't go in?
Hazardous materials such as paint, chemicals, fuel, oil, batteries, tires and asbestos need special handling. Ask us before the visit if you're not sure about something.
Not sure how many loads?
Tell us about the job and we’ll call you with a quote.
